About Mithibai College, Mumbai

Mithibai College of Arts was established as part of education initiatives taken by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), which a charitable trust formed under the Society’s Registration Act and Bombay Public Trust Act in the year 1934. Mithibai College was established in the year 1961 as the extension of SVKM vision on its silver jubilee celebration. The Mithibai College of Arts was 1st institute in the plan of trust to spread across the nation followed by Chauhan Institute of Science, these two are commonly known as the main wing of the Trust, and later after 19 years Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce & Economics which is an autonomous college took shape. The college is focused on providing higher education accessible to the maximum population and create future leaders in many fields including research. Currently, Mithibai college has 32 departments out of which 16 departments carry out postgraduate programmes and there are 10 fully dedicated research departments carrying out and encouraging research in various streams. The institute promotes providing education at its best to meritorious and deserving candidate irrespective of their financial backgrounds.
